NBA on DraftKings 3/13/16

Be on the lookout for injury updates in the Knicks/Lakers game tonight.  Those injury updates could significantly impact today’s slate, so if you do decide to play today, maybe look to skip the 3:30 game (Clippers/Cavs).

PG

My favorite play:

Rajon Rondo, $7,800- The Jazz aren’t the defensive juggernauts they once were for fantasy options, but they still can be a bad matchup due to their slow pace.  Thankfully the Kings are one of the fastest teams in the NBA, and Rondo will get Cousins back from suspension for this one as well.  Not a clear top play for me, but I have to work with something.

Top plays:

Chris Paul, $9,700- Over 50 fantasy points in his last two games, and he put up over 50 against the Cavs in their last game.

Kyrie Irving, $7,900- He’s averaging 41 fantasy points in his last 5 games, and it seems like Irving has finally found his groove since returning from injury.  As long as LeBron continues to be inefficient on the offensive side of the ball, look for Irving to get his.

Jerryd Bayless, $4,700- I was considering making him my top play, but I can’t entirely trust him just yet.  I was shocked to see Bayless is averaging 40 fantasy points in 2 games versus Brooklyn this season, and he’s now getting heavy minutes with Carter-Williams and Mayo out.  Very nice play at this price, but you can’t trust this guy 100% just yet.

Shelvin Mack, $4,600- Mack is getting the majority of the PG minutes for Utah now, and with a great matchup versus Sacramento, his volume should be higher than usual.

Value plays:

Marcelo Huertas, $3,800- If the Lakers don’t play Kobe and Williams, Huertas should be in line for solid minutes at a cheap price.  But make sure you can pivot from him if we get word that Williams and Kobe play.

SG

My favorite play:

Khris Middleton, $7,300- Middleton has been so consistent this year, and while we saw the Greek Freak’s price skyrocket recently, Middleton’s has stayed consistent here.  Granted, he doesn’t have the ceiling of his teammate, but he is very capable of putting up 50+.  High floor, decent ceiling.  Great Price.

Top options:

Monta Ellis, $6,100- Ellis has been playing great as of late, averaging 34 fantasy points over the past 5 games.  This increase in production probably can be chalked up to a minutes increase.  Ellis isn’t offering that “Monta Ellis” upside he once could, but he’s established a pretty decent floor recently.

Rodney Hood, $5,100- So Rodney Hood’s game log can scare you a little, but keep in mind that the Jazz play at a pace that limits scoring upside.  Hood is Utah’s top scoring guard, and these are the games you want to target him.  The upside is 40+ fantasy points.

Bojan Bogdanovic, $4,500- If you want to get a little cheaper, Bogdanovic is a decent option coming off of a good amount of rest.  Only risk here is that Brooklyn will bench him if he comes out cold.

Cheap option:

Langston Galloway, $3,800- If Afflalo sits, Galloway becomes a great play.  If not, you probably can get away with playing still, but the upside will not be there.

SF

My favorite play:

Carmelo Anthony, $8,300- Like at PG, picking a top option here was not easy.  I like Anthony over the rest for the fact that LA is a great matchup and…they are the last game on tonight.  Yeah.  Nothing really supporting this top option.

Top options:

Giannis Antetokounmpo, $8,700- He could be my top play, but his price is extremely high now after a stretch of utter dominance.  He’s come back down to earth the last couple of games, but he’s still producing good numbers. Is his hot streak over?  Can’t say it is just yet, so you can still consider him at this price.

Paul George, $8,100- He also could be my top play, but Paul George has been hard to trust all year.  He tends to play better on the road, but I don’t care to read into that too much.

Jeff Green, $4,800- When Green comes out hot, Doc Rivers lets him play.  If he doesn’t, well, then your lineup will bust.  But 30+ fantasy points at this price is a great option.

Cheap option:

Derrick Williams, $3,800- If Afflalo sits, I like this more, but it doesn’t affect it as much as Galloway’s potential.  Williams has been playing well as of late, but those minutes are a little low for my liking.  Its a risky option.

PF

My favorite play:

Kevin Love, $7,200- Oh yeah.  This is my favorite play on the day.  Love is a power forward, so the matchup on paper doesn’t seem great, but the Clippers really struggle to defend the wing, and that’s where Love does his damage.  He scored 43 fantasy points in his last game versus the Clippers.  Expect similar numbers.

Top options:

Demarcus Cousins, $10,200- Boogie is back from suspension, and unfortunately gets one of the worst matchupps you can get in the NBA right now with Favors and Gobert patrolling the front court.  Then again, it is Boogie.  So feel free to play him.

Derrick Favors, $7,100- 35 fantasy points in his one game played versus the Kings, so you should expect him to get plenty of work considering the size the Kings can put out there.

Thaddeus Young, $6,700- Great matchup, ridiculous amount of playing time, and he’s been highly trustworthy since the trade deadline.  Great option tonight.

Cheap play:

Brandon Bass, $3,900- 24+ minutes in the last 5 games, so it seems the Lakers have finally noticed Bass is a good option off the bench.

C

My favorite play:

Robin Lopez, $5,900- 35-50 fantasy points upside right now, and Lopez gets the Lakers tonight, whom he dropped 38.8 fantasy points against in their last matchup.  In a night with no sexy options at the center position, this is the play.

Top options:

Brook Lopez, $7,800- Robin’s brother is also a nice option, it’s just the price is significantly higher.  Perhaps Brook’s upside is a tad higher, but not significantly.  If you want to pay up for a safer floor, then this would be the correct play.

Rudy Gobert, $6,400- a defensive juggernaut that will get plenty of run with the Cousins matchup.  If he can stay out of foul trouble, he will get a chance to put up some solid numbers.

Ian Mahinmi, $4,700- Atlanta is not a great rebounding team, and Mahinmi gets the most playing time for bigs in Indiana.  So Mahinmi is worth a look tonight.

Cheap option:

Miles Plumlee, $3,500- He’s getting similar minutes to Monroe, and considering Brook Lopez is on the opposing team tonight, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Plumlee get more minutes due to Monroe’s poor defense.
