NBA on DraftKings 3/8/16

Tonight is a night where value plays are easy to come by, so the difficulty will be deciding where to spend up.  Welcome to late season DFS NBA.

*update*: added SG Nik Stauskas, $3,600 to alternative options as he was named a starter tonight versus the Knicks.

Notes for tonight:

– Watch John Wall’s injury status.  If he plays, disregard Roman Sessions and Bradley Beal’s upside may be limited.

-Clippers and Spurs are resting their starters.

-Toronto may rest Kyle Lowry and/or DeMar DeRozan.  If they rest one or both, the blowout potential decreases, making players in this game more appealing.

– Only Tim Duncan has yet to be announced out for rest for San Antonio, but if he does sit, Boban Marjonovic’s upside increases.

Nicolas Batum is a gametime decision.  If he plays, one could argue Kemba Walker’s upside is limited, and Jeremy Lin loses his value almost entirely.

PG

Favorite options:

Kemba Walker, $8,100- Kemba is money at home, and even with Batum’s potential of returning, I love Walker here.  Brooklyn is putting out their young guys for the remainder of the year, so watch Walker light it up tonight.

Kyle Lowry, $7,200- This price tag is egregiously low, so if he plays, you should be looking Lowry’s way tonight.  If DeRozan sits, this becomes the top option at PG tonight, potentially the top play on the slate.

Reggie Jackson, $6,100- A huge game tonight for Detroit and Washington, so expect Jackson to get a lot of run.  He averages 4 points per game more at home this year, and has exceeded 30+ fantasy points in his last 4 games.

Tim Frazier, $5,000- He’s currently probable to play tonight, and Frazier is absolutely on fire currently, posting 35+ fantasy points or more in his last 4 games.  The Lakers sturggle to defend the guard position, making this a great play.

Roman Sessions, $3,700- If John Wall sits, Sessions will get the start here, and Washington desperately needs him to run the point in a must win game.  He’s averaging 25 points in just 20 minutes versus Detroit this season (3 games), and he posted 43.25 points in his last game when he drew the start.  Great value here, but chalky.

Alternative options:

Goran Dragic, $6,800

J.J. Barea, $6,500- Price tag a little high for a low vegas total for the game, but still a viable option.

Ish Smith, $6,200- I like this play if Noel starts.

Jordan Clarkson, $5,000

Jeremy Lin, $4,300- A nice GPP option if Batum sits.

SG

Favorite options:

Bradley Beal, $6,100- If Wall sits, Beal will carry the offensive load for Washington’s backcourt.  He put up 41.25 points in his last game with Wall out, and Beal is finally playing up to his potenial recently, averaging 32.5 fantasy points in his last 5 games.  I will limit my exposure to him tonight if Wall plays, but don’t disregard him entirely if that’s the case.

Jordan Crawford, $4,500- Yes, Utah is a terrible matchup, but we saw what Crawford can do when he starts for the Clippers while their starters rest.  Does 50.75 fantasy points at this price interest you?  Well, he did that last time he drew this start, and while I can’t expect numbers like that this time around, I do see 35+ upside.

Langston Galloway, $3,700- If Calderon sits, Galloway is the man I want in the Knicks’ backcourt.  Not sure I’ll have much exposure considering the other options at the position tonight, but consider him.

Kevin Martin, $3,000- He will get minutes tonight with the Spurs resting their starters, but the upside isn’t too immense.  But at minimum salary, it’s a consideration.

Alternative options:

DeMar DeRozan, $7,400- If Lowry sits, he becomes a favorite play.

Evan Turner, $5,600

Rodney Hood, $5,100- GPP only, people.

Kobe Bryant, $4,600

Evan Fournier, $4,200- Price is vastly too low, but risky.

Nik Stauskas, $3,600- Gets the start tonight.  If he gets hot shooting, will be a nice play.

Vince Carter, $3,300- Interesting GPP play, will be very low-owned.

SF

Favorite options:

Paul George, $8,400- The Pacers need to win some games to make playoffs, so trusting their top scorer to carry them is a decent bet.  I know, Paul George is so tilting with is inconsistent production at this price, but the pricing tonight will allow you to pay up for him and still throw together a great lineup.

Tobias Harris, $6,100- I love to attack opposing wing players versus Washington, and Harris has been highly consistent recently.  He’s averaging 31.9 fantasy points in his last 5 games, making this a great play tonight for a Pistons team that needs to win.

Luke Babbitt, $5,100- If you’ve been paying attention recently to the Pelicans’ roster, you will understand that it’s a joke.  Jokes aside, Babbitt has been a player that has earned this increased price tag, as he’s averaged 30.1 fantasy points in his last 5 games.  The Lakers are a great team to target against, so I love Babbitt to exceed his price tag and offer upside for even more.

Kyle Anderson, $3,000- Anderson is a wonder punt play when the Spurs rest players, as he becomes of the top scoring options for this team.  Check out his recent stats and you will see that his floor tonight will be 20 points, with an upside for 30+.  Love this play

Alternative options:

Giannis Antetokounmpo, $9,700- BTW, I can spell this guy’s name without checking now.

Gordon Hayward, $6,700

Robert Covington, $6,400

Jae Crowder, $6,000

Matt Barnes, $5,200- GPP

Jordan Hamilton, $4,500- Risky, so only play if he starts.

Jeff Green, $3,800- Meh.  Have to mention since Clippers are resting starters.

PF

Favorite options:

Zach Randolph, $6,700- Top priced PF on the slate tonight that’s playing, Randolph brings that upside of 45+ that is hard to come by at the position tonight.  Feel free paying up for him.

Nerlens Noel, $5,800- Noel stated after his last game that he doesn’t expect any minutes restriction for tonight’s game.  Do we take his word with a grain of salt?  Maybe, but be on the lookout to see if he gets the start tonight.  Noel’s price tag reached $6,900 before his injury, and with his time out and minutes reduced since returning, his price has depleted $1,100.  New York doesn’t scare me, and I’ll be getting Noel in my lineups tonight.

Thomas Robinson, $5,500- He’s the lock of all locks, the chalk of all chalks, and the…fade of all fades?  See if you feel comfortable with that, but he’s posted a double-double in every game since gaining the starting role (5 games) as the Nets are resting Lopez and Young for the remainder of the year.

David West, $3,700- West should get the start tonight, making him a nice option with a solid floor of 20+ fantasy points.  I’ll be paying up at the position tonight, but if you choose not to, West is a viable play.

Jason Smith, $3,100- With Aaron Gordon out, Smith’s minutes will rise.  He’s a tad risky, but the price warrants him a mention.

Alternative options:

Derrick Favors, $6,400

Julius Randle, $6,000- Solid floor.

Jabari Parker, $5,900

Nene Hilario, $3,900

Ersan Ilyasova, $3,000

C

Favorite options:

Nikola Vucevic, $7,100- Since returning from inury, Vucevic has come off the bench, but still received plenty of minutes.  He is starting tonight, and, well, he’s a top play tonight.  He put up 51 points in 36 minutes in his only game he played versus Miami this year.  Huge upside, solid floor.

Marcin Gortat, $6,300- I love attacking players versus Andre Drummond, and Gortat is one hell of a value play tonight.  40+ fantasy point upside, with a 30 points floor.  Washington may rely more on him to score if Wall is inactive.

Greg Monroe, $5,500- Averaging 47.2 fantasy points against the Celtics in 3 games this year?  I know the way to score against Boston is through your big men, but WHAT?!  Monroe is a guy you target in the right matchups only, and yeah.  Here you go.  Feast.

Jonas Valenciunas, $5,300- Like Monroe, I target Valenciunas in the right matchups, and he has faired well versus Indiana this year, putting up 42 fantasy points in his one game this year against them.  Bismack Biyombo, the Raptors backup center, has also played well against them, and me being lazy, I’ll just assume Jonas was injured for a couple of those games when Biyombo put up big numbers against the Pacers.  Laziness can be the death of you when it comes to daily fantasy, but hey, I am playing fantasy baseball too, so whatever!

Al Jefferson, $4,500- The Hornets have limited big Al’s minutes all year with him being injured, but even with his restrictions, he’s producing.  He went for almost 40 fantasy points last game when he saw 29 minutes.  If he gets that kind of run again tonight, he’s going to exceed his price tag immensely.

Jusuf Nurkic, $3,700- Reports are saying Nurkic will get the start tonight as the Nuggets are significantly reducing Kenneth Faried’s playing time going forward, and Darrell Arthur has been ruled out tonight.  That means the three centers in Denver become interesting plays that carry a lesser bust potential.

Alternative options:

Hassan Whiteside, $8,800- If you need to spend, Whiteside is a fine play that’s ownership percentage will be lower than usual with so many nice player below him.

Andre Drummond, $7,700

Rudy Gobert, $5,600

Nikola Jokic, $4,900- GPP, carries less bust potential

Tim Duncan, $4,000- Interesting GPP play if he plays.

Cole Aldrich, $3,500- Don’t care to play him in GPP’s. but offers a solid floor tonight.

Frank Kaminsky, $3,400

Joffrey Lauvergne, $3,300- Denver center, read his teammates’ write-ups.

Boban Marjonovic, $3,000- If Duncan rests, or if he starts over West.
